Kent Housing Group Success
After a successful first year for Project Purple, Ashford Borough Council housing officer Vikki Perry entered Project Purple into the Kent Housing Groups Excellence Award.
On the 22nd October 2015 team members from Uprising Youth and Community along with students and teachers from Ashford Oaks Primary went to an event in Maidstone to see if we had won the Excellent Community Project Category. After eating our way through a rather posh buffet, we finally got to see if we had fought off lots of stiff competition to claim the coveted trophy.
You can imagine the joy when Project Purples name was called out as the winner and we got to go and collect the trophy and become minor celebrities for a while. But what was the real win of the day according to the students who came “free food and a Mcflurry on the way home to celebrate.”
