Andy Richardson

Position: Uprising Manager

Role Description

Overall oversight of Uprising, working with the Trustees to ensure Uprising runs smoothly and efficiently on a day to day basis. I also project lead our Community Action Team project.

Favourite part of the job
Working alongside people who are passionate and dedicated to seeing lives transformed in Ashford, and having the opportunity to come alongside young people to encourage change and aspirations. I also enjoy power tools and CAT gives me the platform to use them!

Interesting Fact
From the age of 2-15 all I ate was marmite on toast for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as a result I have to have marmite on a daily basis otherwise I get withdrawal symptons!

Holly Cripps

Position: Youth Work Co-ordinator

Role Description

Responsible for the running of the Stanhope Community Hub, including after-school drop-ins, Youth Club, Homework Club, Coffee Morning, one-to-one support and mentoring, and Job coaching as part of Job Club.

Favourite part of the job
Working with young people and families! I love getting to know people, and being able to be a part of their lives.

Interesting Fact
I collect trainers, and have 120 pairs…

Peter Goodwin

Position: Youth and Community Work Co-Ordinator

Role Description

Aspire+ Programme Team Leader. It is my job to navigate through the different aspects of the Aspire+ programme. Be it that with the students, the guardians, the schools, or the local authorities. I am there to give hope where it seems hope is lost. To help direct a failing dream into a secure future. Together with my team, we will inspire and ignite what has been abandoned.

Favourite part of the job
Seeing the potential reach of where these students can get to if they can grasp hold of what is offered to them. Helping to set a truth of what one can achieve when they; Aim High, Think Big, and Raise their Aspirations.

Interesting Fact
Peter has travelled far and wide performing and giving his time for the entertainment and encouragement of others.

Abi Wylie

Position: Youth Work Co-ordinator

Role Description

I work on the Aspire alternative curriculum project, supporting young people gain foundation qualifications and training to help give them the best chance in their future.

I am in charge of the day to day running of the Hang 10, detached street sessions and the running of House Youth centre.

Favourite part of the job
Going out on detached work and working with Young people on the streets of Ashford.

Interesting Fact
I lived in Northern Ireland for 10 Years.

Carly Plumb

Favourite part of the job
I like treating young people as human beings and seeing how far this positive view can get them.

Interesting Fact
I am level 2 BSL qualified.

Robert Bragg

Position: Session Worker

Role Description

I work on the Aspire alternative curriculum project, supporting young people gain foundation qualifications and training to help give them the best chance in their future.

I used to be part of a gang and God turned my life around. Now I share my story with young people across Kent about the realities of gang life and knife crime.

 

Favourite part of the job
Building a postive relationship with young people and encouraging them to make good choices, hopefully learning from my mistakes.

Interesting Fact
I have been to the top of the Hollywood mountain sign and had a bible study.

Andrea Gregoriou

Position: Session Worker

Role Description

I work in the after school sessions at the Hub supporting the smooth running of the activities.

Favourite part of the job
Supporting, listening and taking an interest in the young people of Ashford.

Interesting Fact
I was born with two extra ribs.

Janice Rowland

Position: Administrator (part time)

Role Description

General correspondence; book-keeping and accounts; liaising with accountants and pension provider; payroll etc and all things finance!

Favourite part of the job
Making sure the staff get paid!

Interesting Fact
I'm a northerner and I love ballet but they're not necessarily connected!

Louise Mitchell

Position: Trustee (Chair)

Role Description

Legal responsibility for the charity’s management and administration enabling the smooth and efficient running of Uprising.

Favourite part of the job
As a voluntary teacher for the Aspire programme, I get to watch as the students progress to college or work.

Interesting Fact
I was a teacher for 12 years, and I have an MA in Contemporary Ecclesiology.

Nathan Wilson

Position: Trustee (Treasurer)

Role Description

Having worked for Uprising for a year before moving onto work for the local church I was excited to be invited to join the trustees.

Favourite part of the job
Hearing stories of young people’s lives being transformed through the inspirational work of our team.

Interesting Fact
I am a keen Gardner, having helped the Hub create their garden, and my wife and I have an allotment

Helen Jakeman

Position: Trustee

Role Description

I have recently joined as one of trustees who work with Uprising. I am very excited to be part of this incredible team of people.

Favourite part of the job
I love hearing all about the fantastic work Uprising does in our local community; how each member of the team works so hard to help those around them.

Interesting Fact
I love to travel. I speak 4 languages and love to cook food from different places I have visited.

Rebecca Morse

Being able to be involved in my community and work with the team on implementing programmes.

I am training for my black belt in karate.
